Getting Started with SoftCart 4 (Lite and Full)


Accessing the Store Manager

To access your Store Manager, go to https://www.yourdomain.com/StoreMgr/storemgr.html, replacing your domain name in the URL. You will need the log in with your password. This is the password provided in the Sign-Up e-mail you received when you purchased SoftCart.


Registration and Encryption Software Installation

The first time you log into SoftCart, you will be asked to complete a registration form. After you have registered, you will be sent a CD with the encryption software to be installed on your PC allowing you to build and manage your store. This software is necessary since order information stored on our servers is encrypted. Therefore, no one can view the information but you.

Once the encryption software is installed on your PC, and you generate your encryption keys in the Security section of the Store Manager, you will be able to download your orders. Detailed instructions are contained in the User's Manual that accompanies the CD. It is very important to fill in your mailing address accurately and completely. Encryption software can not be shipped to a PO box, or any address outside the US or Canada, as stated by the National Security Administration. You can access the documentation at the links at the end of this page.


Uploading Files in the Store Manager

You will want to use a browser version 4.0 or higher in order to be able to upload graphic images such as your company logo or product photos into your store.


Installing Ecommerce Exchange (ECX)

To configure your account to use ECX online credit card processing with Mercantec, follow these instructions:

  • After your initial SoftCart login, EarthLink will send you an email documenting the steps necessary to set up an ECX account.

  • You will be directed to the Online Application (OLA) Web page, where you can sign up for ECX services. (After your application has been successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation email from EarthLink.)

  • If further information is needed to process your request, you will be contacted by an ECX E-consultant .

  • When ECX has received all necessary information, you will be sent an email asking you to fill out one more online form, and requesting a faxed, signed copy of your application.

  • You will then be approved for a Merchant Business Account by ECX.

  • After you are approved, ECX will process the plug-in installation compatible with Mercantec 4 [PW: What does this mean? Clarify, please].

  • You will receive a final confirmation email from ECX.

Note: This ECX information applies to new EarthLink customers only. That is, if you are setting up a new EarthLink Web site, follow the instructions listed above for installing ECX.
