Important: Who Should Read This Document
If you purchased your product on or after May 7, 2002, your control center and
the documentation for using your Web Hosting account can be accessed at http://cc.earthlink.net.
If you have SmartSite, BizSite, SalesSite, TotalCommerceSite, or you purchased StarterSite prior to May 7, 2002,
you do not have a control panel for your Web hosting account. For information
about using your Web hosting account, visit http://help.earthlink.net/websupport.
If you have IntroWeb, EnhancedWeb, AdvancedSite, or were originally with MindSpring or Netcom,
read on. This document will help you learn how to use your control panel.
EarthLink's Hosting
Control
Panel gives you hands-on access to your Web Hosting account with:
- Tools that help you administrate, design, or upgrade your site
- Information about services that are available to you as a Hosting package owner
- Access to your account options
- Site statistics
- Online help
This document will explain the Control Panel's interface
and will give you an idea of what lies beneath. Because of space
limitations, this guide is not an authoritative source on everything
available to you on your Web Hosting account. For detailed documentation
on every tool available in the Control Panel, refer to EarthLink's
Help Desk at the following address: http://webhelp.mindspring.com
You may also use the
Help Options menu on the Control Panel itself.
The Control Panel is a Web page, so you will need to point
your Web browser to the following address. Note the "s" in "
https://
."
https://control.business.earthlink.net
When this page loads you will be presented with a secure Web
page , which will ask you to log in.
To log in to the Control Panel
- Click in the box labeled User ID or Domain.
- Type your Web Hosting User ID, which should look like www##### or
w#######
- Click in the box labeled Password and type your Web Hosting Password.
- Both your User ID and Password can be found on the Welcome Letter that accompanied your Web Hosting Starter Kit.
- Click the Log In button. Your Web browser will load the Control Panel .
The Control Panel is a Web page that is divided into upper
and lower frames. The top frame contains several pull-down menus
that allow you to select Control Panel options. When you choose
an option from a pull-down menu, that option will be displayed under
the menu (in the "content frame").
The options available on the Control Panel are divided into
five categories by function. To find out more about a tool, select
